You can plug the AUX 3.5mm and USB end into the allocated slots on your vehicle and connect your device easily. This cable will only work for BMW & MINI cars fitted with S6FLA USB/Audio interface. Just paired my iPhone 5 w/iOS 8.0.2 to my E90 iDrive but the problem I had before w/my iPhone 4 w/iOS6 was that the car would pair on start up after being parked overnight but would not pair again if I stopped/started the car after driving somewhere. The cable is designed for the iPod (Touch 5th Gen and Nano 7th Gen) and the iPhone 5 range. An Apple iPod or iPhone can be integrated in the vehicle and charged using the USB adapter. Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be a 1st adopter of new software upgrades because older electronic hardware (such as exists in our cars) simply isn't designed to cope w/them. No problems doing that because the BMW's electronics are definitely retro. Always had problems pairing w/my iPhone 4 w/iOS6, so it would be noting new to me.Īs for the Y-cable, I'm old school and just use an iPod classic w/it in my car. ![]() Just got a used iPhone5 w/iOS8 installed on it which I just updated to iOS 8.0.2 and am going to see if it will pair to my E90 or not. Any chances BMW may release a fix or update to make it fully compatible? Anyone else having issues with their iDevice running iOS 8 and getting it work on their stereo? I listen to my music and everything through USB (spotify, pandora, itunes, etc) and now it's broken (somewhat). It seems like a hit and miss problem but pretty much every time I connect my lightning cable through usb port in the center console after the car is already started I get a message on my iPhone saying "this accessory is not supported" or something like that.Īnd when I navigate through iDrive (CD button) to select my phone through USB everything is greyed out. So I upgraded my iPhone 5S to iOS 8 this morning and it looks like it may have broken compatibility to my iDrive/Sound on my 335.
